What Our Aims Are

•To help link up the various community groups in and around Bangor who wish to get involved in shared and appropriate events and activities

•Help towards generating a common community identity

•To create a forum for community discussion and concerns

•Create a representative group to interact with organisations/agencies and statutory bodies

•To help promote and organise events and activities

•Assist with fundraising, grant applications for events/activities

INTENTIONS/STRUCTURE

Following our Inaugural Meeting to establish the group as a non-profit making organisation, we intend to:

•Form a working membership body for decision making and working operations

•Create a register of members, and available skills, resources and interests

•Set up and maintain a website, to promote Bangor and everything that goes on in Bangor

•Research/survey/link up with what currently goes on in & around Bangor (groups, community centres, chapels, churches, individuals with experience and skills to invest in community projects, etc)

•Encourage active participation in our work and in the community at large

•Encourage broader understanding of political landscape and developments

•Canvass and communicate with our members every step of the way as we develop our programme. THIS IS YOUR GROUP!

WHAT MIGHT WE DO?

•Try to re-vitalise the High Street by organising/encouraging entertainment/music/art events there

•Promote and encourage Bangor-based events which enhance our City status

•Bangor Festival/Carnival

•Christmas lights and festivities

•Lobby for enhanced community facilities in Bangor (children’s playgrounds, skatepark, arts/community centre, theatre!)

•Video projects – events, communities, history, diaries
